The Great American Bike Ride

THE GOAL FOR THE GREAT AMERICAN BIKE RIDE IS TO UNITE US BY EXPOSING OUR DIFFERENCES.

The Great American Bike Ride follows myself, Seth Gottesdiener on a 40 day trek across America, as I interview citizens along the way.

This documentary is a demonstration for equality in America.
The painted picture in the background is a forlorn landscape of racial, economic and social divide. The feeling in the air is one that is tangible, rare, and dare I say ‘special’, however it is unique to this time and I pray will never reoccur in my lifetime. You can cut tension with a knife and there are few Americans whom have not grappled and reevaluating the meaning of their life.

The 2020 pandemic has pushed the American identity under an intense microscope, dissecting every thread of our moral fiber and making us determine which side we will choose to be on and which one we will then fight for. Other than the immense and disparaging divide within our countries views on skin tone, we can no longer ignore the coinciding police brutality this is a constant against our black and brown community members.

Amidst all this, the socio-economic chasm is growing larger and more apparent as we watch with a helpless gaze as behemoth corporations get bailed out and small business’ scramble to make ends-meet.
On top of all this it took a lethal global virus to hold a mirror up at our healthcare system and force us to look at it.

The state of the nation is raw, exhausted and in pain right now. What we thought was a deep wound on the flesh of our American soil was actually an infected organ nestled deep into our inherent bodily makeup. This organ needs to be removed and transplanted but how can we do so if we don’t know how to operate?

The goal of this documentary is to show, in such a poignant time of our lives, perspective and experience. Through interview and conversation, we will gain perspective and hopefully take the pulse of America in 2020. We cannot just hear from the side we align with in a one way echo chamber. We must understand the hurt and learned aggression and pain from all Americans, so we can all finally heal.
