Another Local business destroyed by

COVID19…..

We are saddened by the news that one of our local institutions and favorite

restaurants, Express Pizza & Greco’s Bella Cucina, is closing its doors after serving our community for 34 years. This was not a major restaurant chain or franchise. It

was a labor of love that endured for over

three decades, an example of the small,

family owned businesses the have been pillars of communities across America.

Frank was welcoming, first-name basis

place where patrons went to enjoy

delicious food and a family atmosphere.

So often after school, the kids would say “ let’s grab a slice and say hi to Frank”. It was “Cheers” without the alcohol.

Frank financed the business out of his

own pocket, taking the risks and making

the sacrifices that entrepreneurs do. In

addition to his loyal, friendly and expert

staff, Frank’s wife, children and friends all took turns on the phones or making

deliveries. The business was doing well.

The food was excellent, and a loyal

customer base was built. You don’t stay

in business that long if you don’t work

hard and deliver consistently.

When COVID hit two years ago, Express Pizza was the “go to” place for the heroes at Greenwich Hospital. Frank would

regularly send over 20-30 pizzas to the

hospital so that the doctors and nurses

dealing with this deadly disease 24/7

could find some solace in a slice or two.

Unfortunately, the lingering effects of the pandemic, specifically offices remaining closed, employees working from home

and cost inflation, have slowly turned

this once profitable business into the red. The lunchtime business has evaporated. Express Pizza has incurred debts beyond the scope of what can be repaid to keep

its doors open.

This was a great business started and

managed by a great man. It was forced to close through no fault of its owner.

He deserves our help. We would be

grateful for any financial assistance you

can provide. The funds will be going

directly to Frank & his family. Thank you
