The Greek Kitty Pit Stop
Greece is inundated with so many stray, abandoned and feral cats, many of which only survive through the kindness of locals. Every spring, more and more kittens are born and the problem only gets bigger.
My aunt and uncle have taken it upon themselves to look out for the cats in their neighbourhood, feeding them, nursing them back to health, and offering them shelter in bad weather. They try to spay as many as they can afford to (neutering not only helps the population issue, but also deters any new male cats from joining the region. ) and allow them recovery time in a small enclosure on their property, fondly called the "Kitty Motel".
Their goodwill comes at a price, however. While the expenses are not huge, they really do add up. I would love to be able to raise enough to cover this summer's stray litters.
General food expenses come to around €40 a month.
Various supplies like deworming medication and flea spray at an additional €30
Veterinary bills vary, but each neuter/spay costs €50.
Any financial assistance would be really fantastic, as my family would really love to help as many cats as they can.
