A fund for the children of Susanne Groebner

As so many of you have heard, Susanne Groebner passed away suddenly and tragically on Friday, February 25, 2022. Her untimely death left a hole in the heart of so many, but most of all, her family: husband Bob, and children Isabella, Bobby, and Abby.

Susanne recently became a Cook County Court judge and loved every second of that honor. She wore her robe proudly to do the right thing and with a purpose to help others. She truly wanted justice for everyone. Before that, she worked for years as a prosecutor, most recently in McHenry County but before that spending most of her career in Cook County, where she fought on behalf of victims. But as much as she gave of herself to that role, her most important role was for her family.

When Susanne started her career in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in the Child Support Enforcement Division, she was an eager young prosecutor. It is there she met Bob, the love of her life. The two of them were a huge part of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, spending many years working in the office together and making so many friends along the way. They married in 2004 and have supported and loved each other throughout the 17 years since. Susanne also was devoted to her parents, making the most of time with her mother and with her father until his death in 2019.

While Bob and her parents were a huge part of Susanne’s life, her most important role was as a mother. Susanne, as so many knew her, was a devoted, loving, and proud mother to three amazing children: Isabella (15), Bobby (12), and Abby (who will be 10 later this month). Susanne was their foundation, their cheerleader, and the pillar of strength in their lives. She gave each of them constant support at home, in texts and calls from work, and from the sidelines at their games. She encouraged Issy as she started her first year in high school, recently finding out that Issy made the honor roll while also playing for the Fremd basketball team. Susanne took Bobby to all his sports, helping him do his best in his travel basketball games. She encouraged her youngest Abby, who recently expressed an interest in music and took up the clarinet. Susanne was a mom who did it all.

To so many, Susanne somehow still found time to be the most amazing friend. She would help anyone with anything, always with a smile on her face. Many of you have kindly reached out wanting to help with all of the challenges to come, so I set this up for Susanne’s children: the loves and light of her life. Susanne would have been way too humble to ask this of anyone, but I feel when it came to her children, she would without hesitation want their best interests at heart.
