Water Crisis in Rio Verde Arizona-Donkey Sanctuary

We have had our water cut off from the City of Scottsdale and now are having to have it hauled from long distances. This triples the price of our water here at the sanctuary. We have at least 25 donkeys from terrible situations that have found a home with us here. We rehabilitate some for adoption to great homes and the old and chronically ill ones will stay with us and get lots of love, medical care and attention until the day they pass. We love what we do here but with the cost of feed doubling, the requests for taking in abandoned donkeys (which we are now sadly having to turn away) and now with this dire water situation, we are in danger of having to find homes for the ones that we can and euthanize the very old or chronically ill ones. We will have no choice if this water situation continues without the funds to manage it. We are faced with possibly 1800 a month for just water in the summer here in Arizona. Please help if you can and please pass the word. We love the work we do with these special animals and want it to continue. Thank you so much.

Update: We have found a filtration system that we could install on our low producing well which would provide enough water for the donkeys daily needs. This would enable us to have a stable source of water for them without having to rely on outside sources. We would never have to be in this situation again! I have raised our goal in hopes of attaining the funds for the equipment. Thank you all so much for caring about the donkeys here. We are humbled and so grateful for your generosity and could not do this without you!
