The Hannah Project Freedom School 2023!

Tax deductible
Please join me in raising funds to support The Hannah Freedom School this summer. Now in its 14th year, the Hannah Freedom School is a full-day (6) six-week summer literacy enrichment program for low-income children of color in grades 2-8 in Marin County. Our goal is to raise $150,000 so that 150 children in our community can participate in the Hannah Freedom School this summer.

Not just a summer literacy program, the Hannah Freedom School is part of a movement to bring about change in the way black and brown students are educated in the country. We want our children to be equipped with the knowledge and appreciation of their artistic, moral and spiritual heritage. We want them to know their past and be armed with the resilience and fortitude to achieve their dreams - something inside so strong.

  • We offer high-quality academic enrichment through our research-based, multicultural social justice and conflict-resolution curriculum known as the Integrated Reading Curriculum (IRC).
  • We focus on Parent and family development through weekly parent meetings, frequent family check-ins, engagement opportunities, competitions, and more!
  • We integrate civic engagement and social action through lessons about social action and participation in our National Day of Social Action (NDSA), during which all Freedom Schools students nationwide participate in a collective action to bring about social change.
  • We promote nutrition, health and mental health by sharing knowledge and resources for accessing food, mental health care and other basic needs.

Please donate today to ensure the needs of our children remain front and center as our community confronts the parallel crises of systemic racism. Tests have shown more than 85% of Hannah Freedom School scholars experience no summer reading loss and 76% actually have fluency and comprehension gains of more than six months.
