Who is Harrison Payne?
Harrison ‘Harry’ Payne had been 18 for just 3 weeks when his life was tragically taken in a 4WD crash on Woorim Beach, Bribie Island on May 30th, 2021.
Harry loved to train deadlifts at World Gym Burpengary. His strength was admirable, with his 1 rep max being 220kgs at 17 years old. Harry graduated from St Eugene College at Burpengary in 2020, and was a beloved member of this community. Harry was a kind soul with a bright personality that would uplift others everywhere he went. Harry was dearly loved by his family, friends, and basically anyone that knew him. He was incredibly selfless and only wanted to help others.
Harry’s death could have been prevented, and we want to do everything in our power to prevent this happening to another young person.
What is the Harrison Payne Initiative?
At its beginning stages, the Harrison Payne Initiative is a not-for-profit that aims to create change around Beach Safety, Road Safety, and provide support for families who have experienced similar tragedies. Your support will allow us to share our story at schools, beaches, online and in other spaces throughout the community to educate young people on the dangers of driving on the beach. We want to share Harry’s story in a way that honours him and highlights the importance of driving responsibly and knowing when to speak up as a passenger.
We thank you for taking the time to read Harry's story and for all of your continued support.
