The Harvey’s. Orcutt flood took their home & cars

Hi my name is Lea, and I helping the Harvey’s in a time of desperation. They lost their home on Monday night here in Orcutt CA, along with the majority of all personal belongings, and 2 of their 3 vehicles. The worst part…their RENTERS INSURANCE WILL NOT HELP THEM! They have NO HELP at the moment with relocation cost, hotels, daily expenses, or the repurchase of their furnishings. Asking for help is out of their nature, and that is exactly WHY I am asking for them.

The majority of their friends and family live across the country - so we are stepping in to get them the assistance they need. This community is STRONG and UNITED and we hope that you will find it in your heart to help them as they would do for you.

I asked Sara Harvey to share her story:

We are the Harvey’s, a family of four plus a cat and we are completely displaced after the Orcutt flood devastation!

The reason for the delay on asking for help was our insurance company agent from state farm told us housing, living expenses and belongings would be covered. BUT NOW, they have rescinded…stating that NOTHING will be covered. My heart is broken…especially for our kids!

On Monday, January 9 around 5 PM the only warning was our neighbors screams. Within minute water was pouring through our doors and walls. The emergency rescue team pulled us (Logan, Sara, Dylan 17, Scarlet 8 and Harper the cat) from the back of the house where it was waist deep as we moved to the front. Our amazing neighbor Alex Cullen (Who was rescued also) called her friends to come pick us up at the front of Parkland and Bradley to take us to safety. The water level reached 16 inches in the garage and house, destroying all it touched. We lost mostly all our belongings and vehicles. Being new to the area and not having too many people to call for help. This amazing neighborhood came together and help salvage what we could of our lives quickly.

I wish this was just a bad dream, but turns out it is our current reality and we need some help.
