The Help Jerry Champaign

Jerry has been homeless, living in his van over a dozen years. He’s 77 years old and in declining health. He lives in a 1996 van and it’s falling apart. Jerry is one step away from living on the street and facing a grave future. Jerry is in peril of literally not surviving.

We started the “Help Jerry Campaign” to get him back on his feet. His van is getting very old and needs mechanical repairs. We will use the funds to get the van mechanically reliable. The van also needs paint and rust repair. It stands out and looks horrible. He painted it with a roller using house paint. It’s very conspicuous and he gets thrown out of parking lots. We will get it repaired and painted to improve the appearance and make sure the rust doesn’t destroy the extended top. Finally we will build out the interior, installing a quality mattress, cabinets, as well as electrical components including solar, 12 volt refrigerator, 12 volt air conditioner, as well as heat. The van will include a complete kitchen. Jerry is capable of cooking, but needs a place to cook. He’s been relying on soup kitchens and the food has made him overweight and unhealthy. This converted van will be a life saver.
