The Home Group Series

The Home Group is a new dramatic series that follows the lives of addicts in recovery. Their only commonality is their weekly 12 step meeting. Your support will allow us to create the pilot episode of this amazing new series that will change the way people view addition and addicts in recovery.

About the series:

Creator and Executive Producer Marcus B Meyers and  Executive Producer Brenda Isaacs-Booth  tackle the disease of addiction in a way that has never been portrayed in a dramatic series.

The Home Group, just like life itself, is a mixture of dark comedy and drama where nobody gets out undamaged but it’s worth fighting for. It is a highly entertaining series with larger than life characters but it also addresses the issues of being a recovering addict in today's world. It is a dramatic series which follows our characters through their daily lives as they deal with all aspects of being an addict in recovery. The series is written by Marcus B Meyers, an addict with over thirty three years in the rooms of recovery and an active member of a twelve step program.

The script brings together a group of diverse characters with varying lengths of clean time with little in common except the disease of addiction and their desire to stop using and change their lives. The only commonality of this wonderful group of characters is the weekly twelve step meeting they all attend. The characters are fictitious but the series is based in reality as to the challenges, heart aches, successes, failures, joys, hopes, and tragedies of life. The Home Group explores the bond made during the journey of one addict helping another addict work a program of recovery and stay clean while dealing with life on life’s terms. The reality of addiction is:

Addiction affects 40 million Americans, directly or indirectly, every year.

Over 10,000 people will die in alcohol related traffic deaths this year.

More than 75,000 people will die from Opioid overdoses this year.

There are over 11,000 homicides from drug related gun violence each year.

An estimated 100,000 people, 275 people per day, die from drugs and drug related crimes.

And no one wants to talk about it in a real and honest way. From the addict's perspective...

WE DO.

We are seeking the means to shoot the pilot episode of our series to assist in securing funding and distribution for a project that can change the way people view addiction. Addiction is the only disease that comes with guilt and shame for the victim and the victims family. We want to bring to life a series that is not only entertaining, but a series that begins conversations about the real issues of addiction. The real struggles of getting and staying clean. The real portrayal of the horrors of addiction. And to show...

WE DO RECOVER !!!

Thank you for your consideration and support. If you or someone you know needs help with addiction, please contact someone. Addiction is an insidious disease and no one should face it alone. Reach out to a 12 step help line in your area.
