The Homegoing of Sylvia Edwards

Hi, my name is Alicia & I am helping my father raise funds for the burial of his wife & my Bonus-Mom, Sylvia Edwards.

It is with great sadness that myself, and our family, must lay our Beloved Sylvia to rest. Sylvia was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer in 2020.

When Sylvia was not feeling well, family and friends noticed she was loosing a little weight. Not alarming at first but Sylvia decided to go to her doctor.

During the pandemic doctors offices and procedures had changed.

Thinking it was an intestinal issue, Sylvia was prescribed medication. Sometime later, feeling a little better, Sylvia went to work. While there, a co-worker noticed her eyes were bright yellow and urged Sylvia to go straight to the hospital.

This is when we all received the crushing diagnosis as Sylvia was rushed into an Operating Room.

Had her Doctor been in office or the nurse had been granted full access to Sylvia’s tests they would have noticed her bilirubin was dangerously high requiring immediate intervention.

She fought through surgery and her first round of radiation and chemotherapy. While in remission Sylvia began to gain weight and strength back before receiving the news we all feared. During a routine checkup, the cancer had returned.

Sylvia transitioned the morning of Thursday, June 8, 2023. She was cared for at home by her loving husband Epton Edwards, daughter Renee O’Connor, mother Jeneta Brown and sister Nicole Brown.
