This is extremely hard to share but we need your help and my sister's story needs to be heard.. Our family is facing an unthinkable tragedy. It is with a heavy heart to share, that my sister, Rebecca Hoover, 38, of New Albany, Indiana, mother of 3 beautiful children was brutally murdered by her husband in front of her children on August 2nd, 2020. My sister was a mother, daughter, aunt, and a friend. My sister was fighting to escape and rescue her children from the terrible abuse, control, and pain her husband put her and her children through. So many of us weren't aware of the severity of the situation until April of 2020, when she began to speak up and fight against Judson. Rebecca loved her children fiercely - I admired her strength and love for her children. My sister had her struggles growing up, but she overcame so much and made so many proud.
August 2nd, at 10:02pm my sister hung up the phone with our mom, letting her know Judson was pulling in to the driveway and she'd talk later.. Little did we know this would be her last conversation. Judson brutally beat my sister to death in front of her children. Judson left her body in the garage for a couple of days. Moving her to a storage unit a few days later in New Albany and then placing her body in a 55 gallon barrel and moving her to a different storage unit in Louisville, Kentucky. My mom had reported her missing on August 4th. Causing Judson to panic. Texting myself and others, trying to make it seem as if my sister "disappeared". August 27th, one of my sister's children reported to school staff what had happened to their mother and Judson was taken into custody. August 31st, almost a month after my sister was murdered, the detectives found her.
This is a tragedy and a pain no one should EVER endure - especially three young children. My nieces and nephew have lost everything they know... Their home, their parents, their family pets.. The pain in my nieces and nephew's eyes and the things they have shared has shattered all of us. The loss of my sister seems so surreal. As an adult if I am having difficulty processing all of this, I can't even begin to imagine the thoughts going through my sister's children's heads.
My sister, Rebecca, is no longer here to love and fight for her babies. We have quickly discovered the costs of things is beyond what we could have ever imagined. A family friend of ours had set up a Facebook Fund for us, helping us near $7,000.00 - For this we are eternally grateful and are overwhelmed with the amount of support we have received thus far. This is a great start in helping us travel to Indiana from Florida and back regularly, getting the children settled in foster homes until we can legally move them to Florida, cremation, services, things with the home, and other expenses.
We need your help to care for her children, fight for them, and get justice. Your donations will assist with the attorneys we need to help with legal finances, investigators, taking care of finances with the home, auctioneers, needs for the children, therapies, counseling, future needs of the children, and so much more. Our family, and these children need your support financially and in prayer more than ever.
Our hearts ache at the pain Judson has caused - but we will not let his actions silence my sister and leave her children with nothing. My sister, a mother, a daughter, an aunt, and a friend, finally had enough of the abuse and fought so incredibly hard against Judson... Sadly she lost this fight, but we will keep fighting for her. As hard as this is to share, if her story can save one life, my family and I are grateful for that.
Your support means more than anything to us. There are not enough words that can express our gratitude. We are humbled knowing that so many of you, those we know, those we don't, people close, and people from a far are coming together to help my sister's children.
With this, we thank you.
