The Hubbell family

Hi, this is Anthony and his father Ken Hubbell. Anthony a 22 year old kid with a huge heart and amazing spirit defying all the odds after being diagnosed in July of 2014 with a benign Tectal Glioma (a slow growing brain tumor that is growing at the roof of his brain stem).

When he was first diagnosed with this at the age of 13 doctors gave him a poor prognosis, but he has continued to fight with his Dad and siblings by his side every step of the way. He has survived over 30 brain surgeries, and two different brain shunts (the first one being recalled) to help regulate cerebrospinal fluid.

His Dad, Ken Hubbell, left a lucrative career, working with the federal government, a year into Anthony's diagnosis so he could better care for his son. He works with IHSS as his caregiver, focusing all of his attention on Anthony and his other three kids.

February of this year 2023 Anthony was in the hospital for a month dealing with Meningitis (his third time battling with a bacterial infection possibly associated from his shunt). During this time his Dad receives no monetary support from IHSS since Anthony is not within his care while in the hospital. He went through all of his small savings in this time period, unable to qualify for any unemployment or food assistance. This set him back on rent and bills and has been struggling to get by ever since.

Now Anthony is back in the hospital at UCSF. Monday September 18th a series of cluster seizures at 5am sent him back to Sutter in Santa Rosa to get stabilized and transferred to UCSF Thursday September 21st. We're waiting for cultures to come back and for doctors to collaborate to decide what the best course of action will be.

This means his Dad is again in the perilous position of absolutely no income coming in for the foreseeable future. He has received notice of eviction for himself and his four kids if he cannot come up with $6000 which will cover part of his deposit and the rent of $3200 (for September, with $3200 still being required for October which comes up very quickly). He has used the last of his IHSS payment to cover Water ($800 for previous months and this month), PGE ($300), and Garbage ($130) which leaves him with just the bare minimum for food, gas, medications and household expenses ($400 for four people). In order to visit Anthony daily in the hospital it costs roughly around $60 dollars each day to cover gas, bridge fees and just a couple of hours of parking.

I'm trying to help alleviate the enormous amount of stress and weight of the world on a hardworking man who has dedicated his life to taking care of his children, and helping his loving son Anthony endure more than most people will ever have to endure in a lifetime.

Any and all help will be appreciated very much.

Thank you!
