The Ick - A Short Film

Donation protected
This is a film by Gen Z, for Gen Z.

‘The Ick’ (definition): When someone says or does something that makes you suddenly and irrationally lose all attraction you had towards them.

Synopsis:
'The Ick' is a romantic comedy about Lily, a judgmental 20-year-old struggling to find love on her countless dates at the restaurant down the road. One night, she stays past closing and strikes up a conversation with Joe, a waiter who’s witnessed all her relationship failures.
She follows Joe through the restaurant as he cleans, telling him all about how she catches ‘the Ick’, the Gen Z word for having impossible standards. Through bad date flashbacks, an ‘Ick count’ and a healthy amount of flirting, Joe helps Lily realise the problem isn’t everyone she dates, but her perspective on love.

"'The Ick' was inspired by Gen Z Tik Tok humour, and women in comedy like Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Mindy Kahling. I’m passionate about romantic comedies because the best parts of life are love and laughter, and who doesn’t love a film that has both?"
