My name is Jonas Edmondson, and I’m a filmmaker from The Bronx with a life’s mission to create incredible art. As someone raised to fight for what I love, I've worked tirelessly to improve my craft while making a difference in the world.
Since graduating from college in January, I’ve joined the Independent Film School’s mentorship program and have been hard at work on this short film. "The Intervention" tells the story of two people staging an intervention for their troubled friend, James. What follows is a jaw-droppingly hilarious series of events, as James’ turbulent romantic life takes center stage, offering a comically messy yet realistic exploration of modern-day romance.
This film will be a valuable contribution to both the world and cinema because it makes people laugh. In these stressful times, with life’s daily chaos, we need a film that allows us to unwind and reminds us that life can be fun and enjoyable.
The Intervention also highlights the complexities of love in a humorous yet relatable way. It brings romantic realism to the forefront in a way that many other films don’t. The relationships are intricate and multidimensional, making the characters and themes of love not only enjoyable but deeply authentic. This is what makes my film stand out—it’s what cinema has been waiting for.
As an Irish-Dominican director from The Bronx, I want to thank everyone who contributes to this incredible film because like many others, I know that Bronx filmmakers can have a much larger voice in the global independent film scene. My dream is for my film to serve as an example of what Bronx filmmakers can achieve, inspiring more people to get involved in the Bronx independent film community.
I strongly encourage anyone looking to contribute to independent comedy cinema to join this incredible project and help bring this incredible film to life!
