Celebrate the legacy of the venerated jazz saxophonist, who played behind Ella Fitzgerald, Fletcher Henderson, Billy Eckstine and other stars before settling in the Twin Cities as "Mr Smooth."
Irv grew up in Arkansas and Ohio, but moved to the Twin Cities after World War II. He taught in the St. Paul Public Schools for many years and had been a prominent presence in the Twin Cities' jazz community. In honor of the life of this legend, a fellowship has been created in Irv's name to benefit students at MacPhail Center for Music .
A celebration of Irv's life will be held Sunday, January 26, 7pm at the Dakota. Ticket proceeds will benefit the Irv Williams Fellowship. For reservations call [phone redacted] or click here >> (Tickets are pay-what-you-can.)
100% of the evening’s donations will go to the Irv Williams Fellowship at MacPhail Center for Music.
