THE ISLAND OF CARRIACOU HURRICANE RELIEF
Donation protected
My name is Mervin Thomas. As some of you may be aware, Hurricane Beryl struck the Caribbean on the first of July 2024, with the eye of the storm directly over my birthplace, the island of Carriacou. This island, located between Grenada and Petite Martinique, has been one of the hardest hit by the hurricane.
The devastation has been immense, completely destroying our hometown of Carriacou and much of the Caribbean. Beryl, initially a Category 4 hurricane with 150 MPH winds, intensified to a Category 5. The attached video shows the extent of the destruction, with nearly every home losing its roof and many buildings completely demolished.
I am appealing to people everywhere to help our community during this difficult time. I am organising boxes and barrels to send to Carriacou, which will include generators, tarpaulins, non-perishable foods such as canned goods and pasta, and toiletries like toothpaste, body wash, soap, and diapers. We need adult, children, and baby clothes as well.
Currently, there is no electricity and communication is next to none on the island of Carriacou.
I am pleading with you to find some compassion and help me send these items immediately to assist those who survived this awful storm.
The people I am trying to raise these funds for are family, cousins, and close friends stuck in this horrible disaster.
Thank again in advance to those who are kind enough to donate. Your generosity gives the people of Carriacou hope in rebuilding their lives and surviving this dreadful disaster.
Many Thanks
