The Jack Pack Connemara Donkeys

A big welcome from Helen and Liam, carers and protectors of the wonderful Jack Pack.

We keep 4 beautiful rescue donkeys and a Connemara pony. The animals are not ridden or worked at all. We are a couple, both musicians in De Anú a Connemara based folk/roots/Celtic music collaboration. The animals live on 3 acres of land in Connemara. They live outside with a field shelter with coats on in the cold months. We feed them on local hay in the winter. We raise money from donations every year to be able to look after our animals. We run "Connemara Homestead" days in the summer where folks can meet the animals, have hearty stew, listen to our music live, and go for guided walks. Folks can donate for the donkeys at these events and get to know them. We love the traditional Connemara life style and culture, and we work to maintain and preserve its ancient traditions. We also own and maintain a Galway Hooker traditional boat. Our herd costs 2,000 per year to maintain, and without our protection their lives and welfare are threatened in the modern day world. The money is for vet fees, farrier (for trimming hooves) coats (warm waterproof coats which get damaged regularly) feed, fence maintenance and repair. We believe in preserving the natural world and we love the wisdom and intelligence of our donkeys and would like them to share this with others. We cannot maintain our herd and continue to give them quality lives without financial support from the public.
