James and Carson Update March 21, 2023- from Kristen.

Carson started his 3rd out of 4, high dose, in hospital chemo treatment Monday March 20th. With this high dose comes chemo in his spine, oral chemo, high dose chemo and another chemo infusion. This is a rough one and hard on his system. Carson is resting and fighting through it all. He also had a spinal tap that came back clear praise The Lord. He will be in the hospital over the next few days till this chemo clears his system.

James had his second chemo treatment on Friday the 17th along with daily chemo pills . James will do weekly chemo 3 weeks on and 1 week off for 4-6months and then they will check his counts to see if he is ready for Stem Cell Transplant. Again there are a lot of adjustments and side affects. He is managing okay and so far is working through these treatments. None of this is easy but with Gods grace and all the many prayers we are getting through it.

Again I ask that you would like and share this post so that many can see it. Kristen has a list of prayer requests below:

CARSON
pray for minimal side effects if any and that his body can recover quickly .
pray for his comfort and tolerance
Pray for both mental and physical strength
Pray for rest and restoration of his body
Pray for complete healing mentally and physically

JAMES
❤️Pray for James’ strength and protection as he continues working and daily tasks
❤️Pray for tolerance of all the medications with no side effect
❤️Pray James’s body responds well and quickly to the chemo to get the transplant.
❤️Pray for complete and total healing

❤️❤️❤️
The Hutzells, if you can imagine this, have been hit with 2 cancer diagnoses in a matter of 6 months. The family has been a part of this community for over 50 years. James and Kristen are faithful members of Crossroads Community Church since the very beginning, James is a member of the praise team and has had a big part in the building of Crossroads.
In September of 2022, their 19-year-old son, Carson, was suddenly diagnosed with two types of Leukemia which are rare, called Mixed Phenotype Acute Leukemia (MPAL). Carson has been fighting a very hard fight and is facing at least 3 years of treatment. The chemo is tough and is very difficult on him mentally and physically but he is a fighter! #Can’tStopCarson.

Kristen, James and their two other children Connor (age 23) and Callie (age 18) have been standing firmly beside him in this battle!
In the midst of Carson’s fight at Thanksgiving 2022, James started to have some health issues. After many tests, doctor visits, and medications, on February 18th, 2023 James was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma Cancer. This is a plasma cell cancer resulting in lifelong treatment. James has been referred to Cleveland Clinic's main campus and will now begin a treatment plan, including intensive chemo, shots, and infusions in the next few days ahead. This will likely lead to a stem cell transplant in the next year. This will result in months of recovery time and time off work.

With both, father and son, undergoing treatment extensively, while also living everyday life, it puts a huge financial and emotional strain on the family as you can imagine. They would not request this on their own, so on their behalf, I am asking you to join me in support of the Hutzells. Some of the things that can add up on top of medical expenses and decrease in income both for James and Kristen, that many people don’t think about are things like:

-hospital parking

-prescriptions for medications that aren’t fully covered

-household expenses

-car expenses

-meals for on the go

-gas for many appointments

-special dietary and household needs and household adjustments for chemo patients

All of this has affected a family that truly is the epitome of kindness, and compassion, and has always shown such generosity to others in need, looking for nothing in return. We would love to share the same kindness, compassion, and generosity by helping them financially, or if you cannot help please pray!
