The John Sturkie Family Fund
**** Theresa got a call from the coroner today (6/30/2019). The Sheriff's department found John's body during a search they conducted yesterday on the Black Mountain Trail.
The Sturkie family is so very grateful for all the love, support and prayers they have received. They are so grateful to all the volunteers who came out to help in the multiple searches she organized. John was found within the prime location that they were going to continue to search.
An extra thanks goes to all you who have contributed financially to their most unfortunate cause. This family could not have made it without your help.
May God bless all of you in abundance for your generosity! And may John rest in peace. ****
John Sturkie, went missing on Friday, January 4th. He rushed in from work, ate with his family, then left the house in good spirits with plans to go to the beach. The Find My Mobile app tracked his phone to El Cajon then to the Black Mountain Truck Trails near Fuller Ridge. His truck has been found, but he was not with it.
John is a family man and loving father of four. He and his family are respected parishioners of Saint Margaret’s Catholic Church in Oceanside. He's is also a Federation of North-American Explorers Leader within the parish. His hobbies include: hunting, camping, skiing, and surfing. John is 55 years old, 6’5” tall, 243 pounds and in good physical health. He has blue eyes and is bald with a salt and pepper beard and mustache.
Theresa, John's wife, does not believe his disappearance is by choice. He loves her, his children, and all of his family too much to put them through such grief.
John is a Journeyman Electrician and, after being out of work for most of last year, finally secured employment just before Christmas. Though Theresa works full-time, her income has not been enough to sustain the family and their savings have been depleted due to last year’s set back. They are currently facing the risk of losing their home.
We are trying to raise at least $50,000.00 for the family. This will go toward saving their home so the children can maintain some stability throughout this tragic ordeal and toward accumulated expenses the couple was trying to catch up on.
The Oceanside Police and Riverside Sheriff's Dept. are working diligently to find John. If he is not found, a long-term hardship will be incurred. With your help, at least the family would not have to make any major decisions for a few months.
All funds from this GoFundMe page are benefiting Theresa, and their children. Another fundraiser has been set up in his name by his side of the family, which is going toward their independent efforts to find John. Theresa and the children will not be recipients of any of those funds.
No donation is too small. Above anything, we ask for continued prayers for John’s return and for the strength of his family as they preserve through this emotional time. They miss him desperately and continue to keep the hope alive.
