Hi my name is Angel and I started this to help the Jorgensen family who have been like a second family to me ❤️ their beloved mother and grandmother is currently in the ICU due to her trailer catching fire this last Friday night. Fortunately her grandson saw the smoke and flames from his nearby house and was able to run over and get her out. She still sustained burns to most of her back, the grandson also sustained burns to his hands. She was life flighted to EIRMC where I’m sure she will be for a little while. This family is one of the most caring, resilient and genuine families I have ever met and I want to do anything I can to help them. They recently lost their father and grandfather in October as well…

My heart is just broken, Kathi passed away early this morning from cardiac arrest.

On Friday, December 30th, at 11:30pm our son Dominic alerted us that Grandma’s trailer was on fire. Dom made it there first, I’ve never seen anyone run so fast in my life. He pulled his Grandma out and away from the fire to safety so the EMTs could treat her quickly. Her injuries required life flight to EIRMC. Nick, Dominic, and I met Jade, Jordan, Dustin & Makayla in the ER to treat Dom’s hands while we waited for news about Kathi.

Nick and I, our children and our entire family are so grateful to the Swan Valley Fire Department’s quick response to the fire. From the time 911 was called, they’d arrived in 4 minutes 28 seconds. As far as the fire, the investigation is complete, they cannot determine a cause, we will likely never know for sure what went wrong. I wish we had those answers. A huge Thank you to Fire Chief Travis Crystal and the Wilson Family (Mike, Amanda, Angel & Grant) our friends, who also work for the fire department and were there with us that night.

Kathi sustained burns to 1/3rd (33%) of her body, and due to her age as well as overall health, we knew that the odds were stacked against her, and we are so proud of her for how hard she fought to stay here with us.

Nick and I have received a lot messages, calls and concerned, caring neighbors that have stopped by. I am so sorry we haven’t been able to respond to all of them because it’s too hard right now, but I want to thank you all so much because this is really sad. Tragic and horrific to say the least. We don’t have the words for what we saw & experienced and what to do with that. Our family has never been the best at asking for help and to have such a strong compassionate community of neighbors & friends willing to help us in any way has us feeling overwhelmed with gratitude.

Kathi’s passing came 12 weeks after the loss of Dale. Both are and were a complete shock. Nick and I raised our family with Dale and Kathi, they were both there the night our son was born, they watched our children ride their bikes for the first time together. We were so lucky to have 22 years of memories with them right here next door to each other.

We aren’t ok, and we won’t be ok for a long time and there’s nothing we can do about that, but having so much love and support has been a godsend.

As soon as we finalize arrangements, we will let you all know when and where her service will be.
