The Journey to Forever Carvajal- Baby N

Hello Friends and Family,

My name is Crystal Watts. I'm the big sister to Dominique and Frances. My prayers and hopes are that we can welcome Baby N as our forever family member. Please take time to read a bit of their journey below.

In August of 2020, Frances and Dominique decided to embark on adoption through the American Foster Care system via Legal High-Risk Adoption. They did not know what the journey would bring, but they remained open to what God would do with their passion for adopting and providing a forever home.

In January of 2021, Frances and Dominique experienced two separate life-changing events - a miscarriage and the call for Baby N. These events happened less than 12 hours apart. Nonetheless, they managed to find the blessing in the storm. In January 2021, they welcomed their first foster to adopt child in their home five months after he was born. As the case progressed, it became clear that reunification with the biological mother and father was an unlikely outcome but possible. In the Fall of 2021, the State informed them that a distant relative had been considered for a home study and that Baby N would possibly be moved with this distance relative pending approval.

We have made it beyond the year mark!!! Baby N is thriving and is doing well in the home, but not long ago, another family, a distant relative, intervened in his case and potentially forcing the adoption/placement decision to a jury trial - meaning if Fran and Dom want to keep Baby N as apart of their family, our family, they must hire an attorney to help represent his best interest as a member of their home. They must fight to prove that it is in Baby N’s best interest to remain with them! Multiple consultations have been completed to understand the scope of the legal defense, and they are expected to pay the full cost of their legal representation, which can easily exceed $10,000. The goal is to have the majority, if not all, funds raised before their next court date in April. We can do this, team.

Frances and Dominique have been fighting the battle for Baby N for over a year now! We know they love him dearly as we see it daily. We need to help fight to keep Baby N in the only loving home he has ever known, but now it will be decided in the courts. We, as their village, are asking you, those who love them, love Baby N, to consider giving to help them be able to afford legal defense in order to make their home Baby N’s FOREVER HOME.
