Katherine’s Fight with Cancer

Hello, my name is Breanna and I am raising funds for my best friend who is currently fighting with her second cancer diagnosis.

Katherine is a stay at home mom with a husband and two children under the age of five. Her husband is the sole provider for their family and this has put a huge strain on the family financially.

This all started at the beginning of 2023, Katherine went into the doctors to get a check up and ask about a couple lumps in her neck. She also made an appointment with dermatology for a new patient exam.

When she went to her appointments she was told that there was a Melanoma on her back and that the lumps in her neck could be a number of things. So she scheduled with a surgeon. Meanwhile she was getting ultra sounds and other diagnostic testing to find out what these lumps were.

By this time it has been a couple months and she has the Melanoma removed. We waited a couple more weeks to find out that the surgeon had gotten clear margins. We were so happy and she was finally feeling relieved!

That relief only lasted three days, because at an appointment with her new medical oncologist they discovered a tumor in her neck. Her oncologist told her that she has Thyroid Cancer. This was devastating for her and her family. The doctors scheduled surgery to remove the thyroid, tumor and as many lymph nodes necessary. This surgery took place on June 8, 2023.

The recovery has been more difficult than expected and what was only supposed to be one night in hospital turned into three.

Now her husband has used all of his paid time off to help care for her and the children; and they are facing even more hardship.

Because of her illness the family had to move out of their home as well.

She is also facing more treatments, possibly chemo and radiation. With Katherine being the main caretaker of their children and her husband being the sole provider they are very unsure about how they are going to manage their living expenses not to mention childcare if Katherine is too sick.

I am asking for donations to help them

with living expenses like rent, food, car note and childcare. They also may incur medical bills related to this illness that will be difficult to pay. Anything helps, and they appreciate anything that they receive during difficult time.

(Katherine is still in hospital at the moment and I will update with a better picture later)
