The Kathy Dobbins Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship

Kathy Wheeler Dobbins, or Mrs. Dobbins as many of us knew her, was a dedicated teacher, administrator, and mentor to those lucky enough to cross her path. Every student and faculty member in her building knew how much she cared for them. Mrs. Dobbins had the wonderful ability to bring the best out of people. She motivated and pushed us all because she wanted to see those around her succeed. Kathy Dobbins' passing left a hole in the hearts of the Anderson, South Carolina area. 
            Although no longer with us, her legacy will live on. It lives on with all of us whose lives were touched by this amazing educator. To further honor Kathy Dobbins and continue her life's work of serving her students, The Kathy Dobbins Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship will be given to three graduating students of Westside High School planning to attend a college or university to further their education. The applicants are recommended by faculty based on their leadership potential, and possession of the same qualities that made Kathy Dobbins who she was. 
In addition to the financial support of this scholarship, all those nominated will be given a unique and beneficial support system. Once they begin college they will be paired up with a mentor. These mentors were once Kathy Dobbins' own students. The transition to college is one that incoming freshman have never experienced. By offering advice, guidance and just someone to talk to, these mentors will build a support system in which students will not only attend college but thrive, succeed and graduate. 
The financial portion of this scholarship is entirely donation based. We appreciate any support given and we hope you will share this message with others so we can continue to impact students' lives the way Kathy Dobbins would if she was with us now. Thank you.
