The Kesho Trust
Over the past several months, myself and three classmates in a directed reading course at the University of Victoria (Global Development Studies 490) have been planning an event to raise funds for the Kesho Trust, a Canadian NGO that focusses on community-based conservation and improving sustainable livelihoods in local communities throughout Tanzania.
Due to the current context and the spread of COVID-19, my classmates and I have unfortunately been compelled to cancel this event.
We have created this gofundme page in the hopes that we can still raise some funds for the organization electronically rather than through the planned fundraiser.
The Kesho Trust is a charitable organization based in Canada and Tanzania. Their work is conservation-focused and is developed on the principle that improved conservation is integral to healthy, sustainable communities. It regards environemntal conservation as an important component of improving lives in Tanzania.
The Kesho Trust grounds its activities within local contexts and focusses on relationship-building, which makes it a valuable organization to the communities it works within. It has many on-the-ground relationships with local Tanzanian organizations, which enables it to develop culturally-appropriate and locally-specific conservation and community development projects.
Funds contributed to the Kesho Trust will go towards increasing the organization's capacity to carry out its major projects and maintain its partnerships with local organizations.
To learn more about the Kesho Trust, it's main objectives, partnerships, and the major projects it is currently engaged in, visit: http://www.thekeshotrust.org
If you feel compelled and if you are able, we would really appreciate your help in raising funds for the Kesho Trust.
Any donation will help make an impact in the lives of local Tanzanians.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this important cause.
