The Koinonia Trust Inc. is a registered non-profit organisation in Liberia since 2018. It is a Liberian led organisation seeking to support the healing and rehabilitation of people who have experienced trauma and brokenness.
They do this through different methods that can produce real hope in peoples lives.
1. Trauma Healing
The Trust facilitates Trauma Healing Groups for both adults and children providing a safe space for people to work through their heart wounds.
They also identify local people to train as apprentice facilitators who can then facilitate trauma healing groups in their own community.
2. Education
The Trust facilitates homework, study and reading groups for local children. This project contributes to not only their learning but helps and encourages them to stay in school.
3. Organisational Training
The Trust works with local leaders, communities and non governmental organisations (NGO's) by providing various types of training as requested. We encourage and empower them by building their personal capacity and resilience through specific objectives.
The basic annual operational costs for The Koinonia Trust that you could help support are:
£5,500 ($7,000) in staff costs, this is for local Liberians essential to carry out the trusts work.
£3,000 ($4,000) to rent and maintain the compound from which the trust operates and the projects operate in.
£1,500 ($2,000) per year covers our legal fees, stationary, communication and the trusts website costs.
£900 ($1,200) covers local transport costs for our staff.
If you would prefer to sponsor a specific aspect of our work these are the related cost of providing the support we offer.
Trauma Healing Project
On average £100 ($150) can train an apprentice facilitator.
They then can go and conduct trauma healing groups within their own communities. One person trained reaching out to many thus empowering their own communities healing.
A further £100 ($150 ) can train an apprentice facilitator to progress.
This equips them to become an advanced facilitator who can train others to become apprentice facilitators. One person trained at this level empowers many. This has an increased ability to multiply the opportunities to provide Trauma Healing Groups to more communities.
£12 ($15) provides a companion booklet per participant in a Trauma Healing Group.
External Training and Trauma Healing transport costs
£45 ($60) provides transport to facilitate a week of Trauma Healing Group sessions in a different region.
£38 ($50) provides transport to facilitate a one off workshop for somewhere such as a prison compound.
£24 ($30) provides transport to facilitate Trauma Healing Groups within a locality.
Education Project
Our Projects
£70 ($90) provides food and water during a workshop with leaders/pastors/teachers/clinic staff.
£8 ($10) allows for 2 children to attend the homework/study/reading club three times a week for a month.
Linking others into further education
£130 ($170) per year can provide a student with vocational training such as becoming an electrician, baker, mechanic or tailor.
£450 to £1,000 ($600 /$1,300) per year enables a student to get an AA diploma after 3 years or a degree after 4 years.
We want to say a big thank you, from all of us at The Koinonia Trust for your generous support as these projects could not exist without you.
