Dear Alumni, Friends, and Families of the Laura Vicuña Pre-K:
Since opening in 1987, our Pre-K has been a place of love, care and learning, providing a positive first school experience. Now we are asking for your help to ensure that the Pre-K continues to thrive.
Will you donate a small amount to our campaign to maintain -- and even grow--our beloved, 33-year-old program?
The Challenge:
Deemed "essential workers" by the County of San Francisco, our brave Pre-K staff will be teaching on-site this September. We have implemented safety precautions, purchased required equipment, and individualized play areas. Social distancing requirements limit the number of children in each classroom. The Pre-K can enroll only half of the students it normally accepts, and even for that reduced class size, we require more room. So we have begun planning for the SSPP Parish Center (immediately east of the Church) to be an additional Pre-K space.

Yet while we are pursuing this expansion, we are limited fiscally due to a dramatic decrease in tuition income. Also, our on-site fundraisers were eliminated last Spring and this school year. The Parish Center needs core improvements to be Pre-K-ready--a fire alarm system, a transformation of the asphalt outdoor area, and architectural upgrades, totaling almost $15,000.
The Now: Your donation will help us upgrade the Parish Center for critical space this year.

The Future: Your help also means that the Parish Center will be ready to hold expanded enrollment for our program, when COVID-19 mitigation is no longer necessary. That’s a welcome advancement that remedies an almost constant need to turn away families because our classes are full.
