Lazarte Family: Maui Wildfire Relief

Hello friends! My name is Jessie Haynes and I'm raising funds for my cousins, the Lazarte family of Lahaina, Maui. On August 8th, the Lahaina wildfires devastated their home and entire community. They fled their home in hopes of evacuating to a safe part of their beautiful island, only to find the worst-case scenario, apocalyptic conditions. Residents and tourists leaping out of flame-engulfed hotels & businesses, closed routes due to heavy smoke and accidents, and people seeking the ocean as a safe haven. Significant hurricane winds caused this fire to spread erratically, and completely devastated their home and community. We are so thankful for the lives of the LaZarte family being spared, many others were not as fortunate.

You'll never meet a more loving and tight-knit family than the Lazarte's. They’ve lived in their home since 2011 as a multi-generational family & are now completely uprooted and left void of everything. The baby of the family, Kaiden (6) has said how sad he is that his home is gone.

During my visit to Maui, the Lazarte’s were the kindest and most hospitable souls. It was my first time meeting them, as my cousin, Fred (aka “Bear”) is engaged to Melissa Lazarte. I was amazed at how loving, welcoming, generous, resourceful and beautiful they are. They are proud Islanders and will be fervently working to save lives and rebuild not only their home but their community as well. In the coming days, weeks, and months, they are challenged with being completely displaced from their homes, jobs, & will struggle to source food, toiletries, tools and other necessities. I know we can come together and rally for the Lazarte family! Let's AMAZE them with generosity and help them in every way we can. I'll continue to post updates as they become available.
