The Leung Family (Lucia Leung)

Our dear friend, Lucia suffered a stroke on April 25th. While we never want to hear this news for a friend, we continue to believe that God is sovereign and we are comforted by His faithfulness to sustain her life.

Many of you have asked how you can help the Leung family at this time. First and foremost, the family continues to ask for your daily prayers. Lucia is currently in an acute stroke recovery program and she is making good progress every day. While we are so thankful to God for her progress, the road to recovery is a long marathon, whether physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually. Your prayers for Lucia and her family are the most important at this time.

The next most practical way to support the Leung family is through financial support. Unfortunately, the family is facing many unexpected costs that come with caring for Lucia during this time. This includes Ricky, Nathan, Brandon, and Kristy enduring multiple daily commutes to the Vallejo care facility (amongst rising gas prices) and also for the sake of convenience and efficiency, eating many takeout meals (amongst rising food prices). (They have shared that receiving hot meals from others is not ideal or convenient for them at this time.) In addition to the daily costs adding up, they also face accumulating medical costs that aren’t always covered by health insurance. For the longer term, there are also unknown medical expenses needed to make their home accessible and safe for Lucia, as well as potential future care costs required. With all of their expenses adding up, the most practical way to help the Leung family is to ease some of the financial burdens they will face in the coming months.

In difficult times like this, we are reminded of God’s constant provision through the friends and family He places in our lives and we are comforted for the Leung’s through His word in Deuteronomy 31:8 - “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

另一項能幫助他們一家就是透過經濟上的支持。在照料Lucia的過程中，當然會出現很多突如其來的開支。這些包括Ricky、Nathan、Brandon、和Kristy每天輪流長途往返Vallejo復健中心的汽油支出、膳食開支、醫療保險不會支付的部分、以及其他未能預算的開支，比如當Lucia準備回家前住所需要進行裝修和安置一些便於出入及安全設施、未來未知的照料費用等。因此，最實際的幫助就是給予他們經濟上的支持。
