The lifesaving last chance of Patty Cakes Pink Paws

Donation protected
This is our end of the road fund for the one and only Patty Cakes.

Patty Cakes is a 9 year old, almost 9.5 year old boxer mixed breed. Waaaaay back in September of 2015 a heavily pregnant brindle boxer cross staffy was rescued at the 11th hour from the pound. Within hours of rescue she gave birth to a rainbow litter of puppies.

When the puppies were 9 weeks old the rescue org made arrangements for foster carers to take in the puppies. A pure white deaf female puppy was earmarked to come into care at Life of Pikelet. However when Pikelet's Ma (me) showed up to collect the new foster puppy, a request to take a second from the litter meant that quick thinking and Patty Cakes was chosen.

A few days rolled on by as Patty Cakes and his deaf sister Pixy Stix settled into foster care, it was clear that Patty Cakes was a foster fail as he quickly bonded with foster big brother Pikelet and the two older smaller resident rescue dogs, Shelly Shoe and Betty Boo.

It's now 2025, coming up to 10 years since Patty Cakes entered our lives, not just at Life of Pikelet Rescue, but online in photos and video content shared around the world on social media.

Patty Cakes has been a beloved favourite rescue ambassador around the world for all these years of his young life. You have all watched how this big white marshmellow baby dog has the most gentle soul and nature, raising abandoned orphan baby animals like ducklings, piglets, kittens, deer fawns and many many more including hundreds and hundreds of puppies.

This is a male bull breed dog that some would classify as a pitbull, he has the nature and kindness that is unmatched in most dogs. He doesn't just paternal instincts, but he has also maternal instincts.

The images and videos of this beautiful dog sharing his life with hundreds of rescue animals in need has brought awareness to the rescue community, funds via fundraising from many events he featured at for other rescue organisations, adoption interest for adoptable animals and so much more.

Over the past 5 months the online community who have watched and admired Patty Cakes over many years, have rallied and donated so much funding. It has truly been such a blessing to have access to so many generous and caring people who continue to give to Patty, and previously to his big brother Pikelet who passed away in October 2024 after a short battle with Leukaemia.

Now we have only one remaining "last chance" chemotherapy protocol. It's called a "rescue chemotherapy" because for a large percentage of dogs with lymphoma like Patty, it can and does work miracles, up to 75% of dogs who took this protocol went into remission.

But it is a long shot. And we are trialing this day by day and week by week. If Patty has any adverse reactions to this protocol, it will be stopped immediately and Patty will be given the dignity of passing with help from our vet.

Some people would suggest that more money invested in Patty for a "long shot" is wasteful. And to those people all I ask is to keep that opinion to yourselves.

We are working with one of Australia's most experienced, trusted and well respected Specialist Canine Oncologists. It has ALWAYS been the priority to do what is best for Patty and his quality of life. This has been thoroughly discussed and assessed every single step of the way and this is exactly what we continue to do. It is very much a team effort between specialist vets and Patty's mama (me).

The protocol we are trialing is called "DMAC".
This is a $3,000 per week expense on Vet Bills alone (not including supplements, special food etc).

Week 1 started last week, however that included a overnight stay in Emergency so that Patty could have a night on fluids and strong pain relief for his very swollen neck glands.

Week 1 was $4,500
Week 2 is this Friday the 17th of Jan and it's $3000

Already I am in arrears for week 1 and I need to have week 2 covered by Friday morning the 17th of Jan.

Our goal to start with is $7,500.

I will only continue to try and raise week by week because the truth is I may need to halt this treatment if Patty doesn't take to it and I don't want to ask for help with more money than I really need.

Can you help us urgently raise $7500 by Friday the 17th?

Please and thank you to every single person who has donated and will continue to donate to Patty Cakes. He is only one dog, but this is a dog who deserves a fighting chance.

I'll continue to update this fund as we go, after the $7,500 is raised (if we manage it), it'll be week by week at $3,000.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!
