The Literary Lancashire Award
Donation protected
The Literary Lancashire Award is a competition for up and coming creative writers in Lancashire, first launched in 2019. It is run by students with support from Lancaster University English Literature and Creative Writing department.
We celebrate creative writers and offer entrants the opportunity to win prizes and publication in an anthology - these are great ways for aspiring writers to start building experience and accolades that can enable their future publication.
To benefit as many people as possible, our team will visit Lancashire schools and colleges to host creative writing workshops. We will use this time to inspire young people to engage with writing on both an amateur and professional level, developing students' creative ideas and discussing creative writing as a viable degree and career option for those from all backgrounds. We also plan to provide opportunities for other lancashire residents to attend a free writing workshop.
The 2020 Competition will launch in January, and we need your help to make this years' competition as successful as the last. Donations from you will enable us to deliver more workshops, promote the competition further and help us fund the prizes for this years' winners.
To that end, we are asking for any help you are willing to give us. We are not a registered charity or official organisation; just a group of students wanting to give something back to the community, using the skills we’ve gained in our education to introduce young people to a creative sector we love.
