The Lodge at the Children's Safety Village needs a new roof!

Donation protected
I am writing in regards to the building that the Brant District Masonic Lodges have sponsored at The Children’s Safety Village of Brant. The Masonic Lodge building remains in a good state of repair but these are original shingles (photo attached) from our 2005 opening and it is time for replacement on a number of buildings that has been delayed by COVID, lack of roofers, etc. The original lease agreements provided for the sponsors to maintain their building as needed but we have been attending to minor repairs over the years rather than approach the sponsors. This will be our first such request for maintenance costs from a number of sponsors.

We have a quote for $800 + HST to remove and replace the Masonic Lodge shingles, including tar paper, weather guard etc. We are asking for support from the original building sponsors where possible but a few no longer exist and we will have to absorb the cost. We would greatly appreciate your support for this needed work on your building. If you visit our website at brantsafetyvillage.ca you can get an idea of the facility and also see your building in the main page photo.

It is because of the support from a number of businesses, individuals and community-building organizations, like the Masonic Lodges, that we were able to build The Children’s Safety Village of Brant in order to prevent childhood accidents and deaths. Since our opening in September 2005, there have been over 100,000 grades K – 8 student visits for safety instruction and many thousands of public visitors to our annual Easter (2,138 on March 30, 2024) and Halloween (2,830 on October 30, 2023) events.

Our facility also provides meeting and training space for Autism Dog Services, Brantford Police K-9 unit and Cadet training, special needs classes for Crossing All Bridges and W Ross MacDonald and in the recent past SAFE Zone fall-prevention.

With your help and support, we can continue to provide these important and life-enhancing services to grades K-8 students and a wide range of community members.

Sincere regards and thanks,
