In late August this year we completed a cycle from the tip top of Ireland - Malin Head, Co Donegal to the most southerly point - Mizen Head, Co Cork. This is a cycle with a difference in that throughout the event we are highlighting regenerative farming and it’s potential to address every problem in agriculture today. We are highlighting the benefits of chemical free and nutrient dense foods produced in harmony with nature. To prove the nutritional potential we cycled 1240km only eating regenerative meats, vegetables and eggs which powered us right throughout our journey. No need for over processed protein shakes, bars or energy drinks for us. The secrets to our success included:
* replace protein bars -> black pudding, boiled eggs (plastic free biodegradable packaging) sausage & sourdough sambos with grass fed butter, nuts, seeds, energy balls with oats from local growers.
* replace sports drink -> water with a squeeze of lemon & pinch of sea salt and electrolytes.
* replace energy gels -> honey, dried fruit like apricots, dates, raisins, cherries and fresh apples and bananas.
Topped off with chocolate, nuts and seeds for concentrated energy density we cycled through wind, rain, sun and cloud, hitting the road at sunrise to get over the hills and across the counties.
We were hosted by 10 regenerative farms en route, showcasing the incredible work that is being done on the ground by farmers & food producers on the island of Ireland.
How did we plan to do this? We ran a few training cycles and connected with an independent production company Redhousemedia who accompanied us for the entire trip, from Saturday 24 August to Saturday 31 August. We are very grateful to our sponsors our cyclists and supporters. Our core message is HEALTH – healthy body, healthy mind, healthy environment, healthy community etc.
Ireland has a huge heritage of people growing and producing their own food naturally, respecting the land and connecting with community. We were delighted to show what each host farm offers their community, welcoming local neighbours who joined us to experience delicious healthy food grown on each farm. Connecting local people to their food and the regenerative food revolution.
We can all decrease anxiety and stress by eating healthy nutritious chemical free foods and moving more.
As you can see from the image we had an action packed week in August however our journey started in April. Thanks to all those who took the opportunity to join in the positivity, meet us, and promote your business and all you do for the industry. We are welcoming donations to complete our documentary and share this message.
Our next event is an exclusive Pre-Launch Screening + Gala on Sat 7th December in the Grain Store, Killruddery House, Southern Cross, Bray. For one night only enjoy the first showing of our documentary combining welcome drinks, 4 course meal, silent auction, music and good company. Limited tickets available here:
We look forward to your response.
