The loss of a loving father, husband, and friend.

I have created this GoFundMe to assist my mother with cremation, memorial service costs, as well as medical bills that are to come.

On September 25th, my father, Paul Bluhm, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. He had been battling esophageal cancer for 13-months... Recently his test results started improving, his oncology team was optimistic and so were we. His metastases were reducing in size, his cancerous ingrowth was shrinking. It made him and us so happy, that we were finally able to breathe a little easier...Then this happened out of nowhere, like someone turned the switch off...

Emergency room, and in front of my mothers eyes a crew of 15 worked hard to try to resuscitate my Dad while waiting for the helicopter for transport. My mother asked my Dad to stay and not to let go, that she loves him so much, please don't go...

Did you ever see the movie "Ghost", when the entire medical team is trying to revive the person to no avail...All the equipment being shut off, everyone leaving the room and all you can hear is a thick silence. My mother's world collapsed right then, shattering into a million pieces. Hard to explain, even harder to understand. This is how we found my mom in the emergency room bed 6, clinging onto him finding any warmth that he still had. As we gathered, grasping on to the man we love, we tried to wrap our heads around the tragedy that had occurred. We're still searching to understand why he was called so soon and so suddenly.

My mother is grieving the loss of her soulmate. I would just like to help alleviate some of her stress so she can grieve without worrying about finances...

My father was the kindest, most giving, always-there-for-you, never-asked-for-anything kind of person. He was the kind of person who would befriend any stranger. My mother and father met on Match.com and have been married for 21 years. My father, the incredible person he is, brought us over here from a different country. He adopted my brother and me and raised us as his own. He didn’t have to go through all this, but he did, because he loved us, and we loved him. He was so incredibly important to me, teaching me how to repair cars from oil change, to breaks, to even welding a hitch on a ford taurus. Being there to help others, with nothing in return, to be friending to any stranger. As well as being patient, slowing down and enjoying every moment. Regardless if the time is spent on a task at hand, or if it's just the two of us silently fishing enjoying each-others company (and me silently thinking we're competing for who catches the most). I have spent the past 13 months helping my family as they went to the Mayo Clinic for cancer treatments every week. He fought so hard, and I can’t even put into words how absolutely gutted we are right now. We should have had more time together, but I’m so thankful for the time we’ve had.

I’m sorry to be asking for help. I’m trying to do whatever I can to help my mom during this time. I appreciate your time reading this and donating. Thank you so much.

I miss you and I love you, Dad.
