The Lubber Fiend - Building Work and Repairs
Donation protected
Last year we asked for your support to help us renovate and open a new DIY venue in Newcastle upon Tyne. In May 2022 we opened The Lubber Fiend on Blandford Street, Newcastle. Over the past 18 months, a tangible community of passionate people has shaped the venue and organisation. Whether it's the bands that play, DJs in the Slack's studio, audiences, visitors or volunteers, each and every person has contributed to this space.
We are asking for your help. The building and the equipment have taken a fair amount of punishment over the past 8 months. Not only that, there are improvements we hoped to make before opening that we simply could not afford even to start. Much of the equipment used on stage is our own rather than the venues - we would like to use house gear, where possible. We have some money set aside to address these issues but it is not enough. With your help, we can carry out essential improvements and repairs.
Your support will help us with the costs of the following:
- New windows
- A ventilation system
- Sockets and Lighting
- Seating and cover for the smoking area
- A bike rack
- Music and stage equipment.
Since opening, we have continuously made improvements. Over the past 8 months we have:
- Brought in a high-end sound system
- Added a new 24-channel stage box
- Built an extension to the stage
- Bought a projector for films and live-visuals
- Built decking for the smoking area
- 100 other things!
We will be cracking on with work through December and January, but the work never ends. We understand this is a difficult time financially - please share if cannot donate at this time. We appreciate your continued support. Long live the Lubber!
