The Lydd Town Museum 'Open & Warm' Fundraiser

Established in 1979, Lydd Town Museum is a small, local heritage museum - it is curated and managed by the Friends of Lydd, a registered charity. As a heritage museum our aim & purpose is to share knowledge & information about the historic town of Lydd and the surrounding areas. We are a small but mighty museum, run by our team of volunteers who open, maintain & improve the museum for the benefit of all. As a charity we're entirely dependent on donations to keep the museum open and to cover our running costs.

Our amazing team of volunteers have kept Lydd Town Museum running for over 40 years, no small feat when you realise we're a charity.

This year, for the first time ever, we are starting a fundraiser. Our aim is to raise much needed funds towards the cost of installing a heating system at the Museum.

We have a number of old and fragile documents, books and exhibits in the Museum and these should, ideally, be kept free from major temperature changes etc. At the moment, the Museum has no heating system (as anyone who has attended a meeting at the Museum, during winter can attest to).

By installing a heating system in the Museum we will be able to better preserve all of our artefacts - it will also make for a much nicer environment for our Museum visitors in the early part of the year, before we have the warmth of summer! Ensuring a truly 'warm' welcome for all.

Our initial aim is to fundraise for £1000 - the heating system will cost much more than this, but we know this is a marathon not a sprint and as this is our first fundraiser, we plan to start with a modest aim in the hope that we see success and get our fundraising efforts off to a good start.

Every £ raised helps us (the charity Friends of Lydd) and thus directly helps the Museum - so please do give generously and help us to keep this wonderful heritage Museum open (and warm!) for everyone! Thank you.
