Help the Mack Family

Donation protected
Living in a small community has many benefits and one is being there for our neighbors in times of need.  The Mack Family is that family that needs the community's help.

Joe, Regina, Joey and Mikayla Mack are going through the most trying time of their lives.  Joe has had many health problems through the years.  In 2014, Joe had to start dialysis when the kidney/pancreas transplant that he had 14 years prior failed.  Joe then began his battle with cancer which he fought hard.  Last summer the Mack Family thought the worst was behind them until the cancer returned.  Joe has not been able to work for the last few years.

If that wasn't hard enough,  2 years ago Regina was laid off from her position after 13 years.  Regina herself needed to have knee replacement surgery, which did not go well leaving her in extreme pain.  She will need surgery again sometime in the future.  Since Regina is the sole caretaker for Joe,  who needs 24 hour care, Regina is unable to work.

Joe is on dialysis 3-4 times a week along with his treatments.  One of Joe's most recent hospital stays was 38 days, and at one-point Joe coded and was in a comatose state.  Regina was by his side for 10-12 hours a day praying, talking and holding his hand. Regina had to prepare their 2 children, Joey a 5th grader and Mikayla a 2nd grader for the worst.  On day 7, by the grace of God, and no explicable reason from his team of doctors, Joe woke up.  It took a few days to get him mentally back but he continued to fight.

Joe came home extremely weak and is unable to get up and down on his own.  Joe is restricted/limited to the 1st floor.  He has to sleep on the couch which is terribly uncomfortable.  They now need to make their home handicap accessible so Regina will no longer have to carry/lift him up and down the stairs.

Along with taking care of her husband, Regina is a Mom with a 5th grader and 2nd grader who still need and want to just be kids and have fun with their Mom and Dad, which is something that they haven't been able to do for so long now.

The Macks have been involved wih the Prospect Park Youth Club, their children are students at Prospect Park School and they are members of St. Gabriel's Church. As a community, we need to come together to help this family in their time of need. No amount is too small; every little bit will make a difference.

Lastly, please remember this family is  your prayers.

Thank you,
