The 100 hole Golf Challenge 2024

Hi, my name is Alex. On the 27th of June at West Essex Golf Club I will be attempting to complete the Macmillan ‘Longest Day Golf Challenge’, which entails playing 100 holes of golf in a single day. To complete the challenge I’ll be playing non-stop for over 16 hours, starting at sunrise (4.46am) and hopefully finishing before sunset (9.22pm).

This challenge is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity that raises money to provide vital cancer services, research, and campaigns for better cancer care. At Macmillan, they give people with cancer everything they've got. If they're diagnosed, their worries are Macmillan's worries. They will move mountains to help them live life as fully as they can. And they don't stop there. They're going all out to find even better ways to help people with cancer, helping to bring forward the day when everyone gets life-transforming support from day one. They're doing whatever it takes. But without your help they can't support everyone who needs them.

The charity is especially important to me for many reasons: my maternal grandmother passed away from cancer before I was born, and some of my other family members and close friends have been affected by it as well. Sadly this disease affects us all at some point in our lives, and by participating in this challenge I hope to contribute to the amazing work that Macmillan nurses and researchers continue to do every day.

Macmillan Cancer Support relies almost entirely on charitable donations from the public, so any help you can give me to reach my fundraising target would be greatly appreciated.
