The Margate Curry Club is something different.
We are a husband and wife team that love to be together and work together. Over the last few years we’ve spent a lot longer apart than we wanted to so we looked at what we could do to be together. The Margate Curry Club was the answer.
Weve been running the Margate Curry Club now for about two years working with and feeding people in the local community, getting the food right and working out the direction we wanted to take. We’ve fed almost 2000 people through the curry club. We now have that direction and we are ready to start.
We want to bring you food you’ve either never tried before or have loved but been unable to get back home in the UK. We make curries inspired by our history, our travels and our passion. We make curries from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Malaysia, Singapore, Fiji, Thailand, Tonga and Africa. Anywhere we went over the last two hundred and fifty years as a nation we took curry and our love for curry with us that informs our menu.
We are looking to raise funds to buy our first food trailer and get the business up and running. Through winter we’ll be converting the trailer into a rolling curry scran van ready to bring you amazing food from next Easter onwards.
It’s as simple as that really, we cook what we eat, we eat what we love and we think you’ll love it too.
Our ethical and moral compass guides us in everything we do and is, as you’d expect, front and centre.
All of our curries use high welfare meat and wherever possible we look to source the best quality ingredients from local suppliers. If you are a Vegan or vegetarian you can rest assured that everything that goes into your meal is entirely vegan and cruelty free.
We do not use any single use plastics or glass in what we do. It’s as simple as that. The boxes we serve our food in, the utensils you eat with and the napkins are all entirely made of recycled materials and compostable within 90 days.
Both of us volunteer with support organisations and as a result we will be making a contribution from our profits to those two organisations.
Mr. Margate Curry Club volunteers with Rock2Recovery. Rock2Recovery is a organisation that supports members of our serving and veteran military community and their families. Delivering life saving suicide prevention and coaching support to help serving members of the military, veterans and blue light first responders deal with the challenges of stress and trauma injury. Rock2Recovery has clinics in Exmouth, London, Birmingham, Manchester, York, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Jersey and the Isle of Man and is looking to expand.
Mrs. Margate Curry Club volunteers with The Oasis Domestic Abuse Service, which nationally supports the victims of domestic abuse and their children. It’s a life saving service and one very close to both out hearts.
We will also offer a discount on our events, to every member of our serving and veteran military as well as blue light, first responders that can provide proof of their service. This discount extends to events, private dining and lunch clubs.
Through 2020 we are looking to build enough funding so that in 2021 we can buy several more trailers and offer them to rent at a discounted rate, with centrally prepared Margate Curry Club food on ice and sent out to them ahead of their events, as ready to go mobile businesses, for men and women transitioning out of the military or first responder services enabling them to get into a business that will help change their lives rapidly and provide income from pretty much square one.
We believe that food is at the heart of community, we want to bring communities together through a shared love of curry and doing the right thing for the right reason.
Oh and we’re called the Margate Curry Club, because we live in Margate and we run a curry club.
