The Mark Witbeck Family Fund

Hello my name is Mark Witbeck. We are a family of 8, however we only have 6 family members at home right now. I have been trying to work jobs since my Stage 4 Liver Cancer (Leiomyosarcoma) diagnosis in April 2021. This cancer is inoperable and terminal. Due to the complications of this disease and going through Chemotherapy 7 times so far, I have had to declare disability and am waiting to get approved. I lost my last job at the end of Sept 2022. I was not able to perform my duties after the last 4 rounds of Chemotherapy and Covid Pneumonia that I contracted in August of 2022. That caused me to go to the hospital for 2 weeks and did not recover for some 5 weeks after that. I caught this Covid Pneumonia only 5 days following a Chemotherapy treatment. I thought that I would try just one more time to work in the workforce after that job loss; however, I have determined that I cannot. Our family has been without income since the last of Sept. 2022. Two of our children have special needs. Our son (24) with Cerebral Palsy and requires full-time care. Our daughter, 14, has Sickle Cell Disease which causes immense pain and frequent, emergency care. My wife has severe osteoarthritis with bone on bone in both knees and is confined to bed. She requires knee replacements that will hopefully improve her quality of life.
