Donation protected
The Martin Family needs your help.
On October 27, 2023, Jacob was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a high grade leukemia, and was hospitalized for a month while undergoing extensive chemotherapy. He recently received his second round of chemotherapy in preparation for an upcoming stem cell transplant.
This has been the most trying time for us as parents. And while we are a typically quiet, reserved family, we are here asking for your help
We are tremendously lucky to have found a stem cell donor using the organization, "Be the Match." Jake's stem cell transplant is scheduled for early March in a Denver hospital over an hour from home and his family.
Jake will be required to stay in Denver for 90 days. The first 30 he will be hospitalized and the following 60 days he must live offsite with a full time caregiver. Jake's mother, Irene, has volunteered to take time off work to take on this role.

While we both previously worked to support our household, we are now down to a single provider as Jake is unable to work. I have been trying to continue working full-time while caring for and supporting Jake and our three amazing boys ages Juelz (15), Vincent (12), and Benjamin (9).
There is absolutely nothing that can prepare you for a diagnosis like this. We are a humble, simple family, trying to manage through this challenge. We have sought grants, requested help from organizations, and continue to battle our insurance to cover costs, but the burden has become overwhelming.
From fuel to travel to the Denver hospital for pre-transplant appointments to fulfilling the extensive shopping list of items Jake is required to have during his stay in Denver the costs are seemingly never ending.
Right now, our family can use any and all support. Maybe you can only donate a few dollars or simply share this post to gather more attention please know every little bit will be appreciated.
The financial burden resting on us as parents has become immensely straining at a time when we should be focusing on healing and beating this awful disease.
Lastly, Jacob has received countless blood and platelet transfusions, along with locating his stem cell donor, through "Be the Match." We cannot express in words how grateful we are for the donor that will save his life.
We ask that you please consider saving someone else's life and donate blood or platelets at your nearest donation center or register to be a stem cell donor through Be the Match (https://bethematch.org).
Thank you,
The Martin Family
Jacob, Kyria, Juelz, Vincent, and Benjamin
