The Mary O'Gara Foundation Gofundme

The Mary O’Gara Foundation is a non-profit organisation raising awareness and funds for mental health services and dispelling the stigma associated to suicide.

We are run by volunteers (family and friends) who all share the same hopes and ambitions for the foundation.

We started our journey on 30 May 2020 when our beautiful daughter Mary took her own life and became an angel at the age of 27.

Her legacy lives on and we all remember the happy, smiley girl we knew and loved so very much.

Our ultimate goal is to support every school, college and all other youth organisations in providing their staff with suicide prevention training – something we feel is vital.

Current statistics show that four school children a week are lost to suicide in the UK.

So tackling this at an early age had to be our priority.

In collaboration with Papyrus we are rolling out a programme to provide suicide prevention training across any organisations who work with or support young people in Lancashire and this will be funded by the Mary O'Gara Foundation. It is crucial that any young person in crisis has someone they can turn to who is equipped with the knowledge of how best to support them. Suicide is a preventable death and we can all work together to ensure this is the case.

We as a family have undertaken this training, and whilst it may have been too late for us, it isn't too late for another family to still have their loved one with them - Don't wait until its too late - Please support us in anyway you can - THANK YOU
