Thank you to all the generous donors who made the Marion Connector possible. It's completed and ready for your enjoyment!
This summer, the Town of Mattapoisett was awarded a $110,000 state MassTrails grant for construction of a half mile portion of Phase 2B, called the “Marion Connector.” This shared use path will extend from the end of Industrial Drive and connect to the Town of Marion’s anticipated bike path. While state funding for trail projects has been cut back, this grant gives us a great opportunity to continue building our community path.
Since the Town hopes to combine the Connector project with its Industrial Drive reconstruction project (already funded from federal and Town money), the Town is looking to private sources to make up the remaining difference. Our goal is to raise the remainder by December 2020 so the Connector project can go out to bid with the other planned Industrial Drive improvements. Construction for the half mile Connector could then begin in 2021!
Your donation will be doubled thanks to another challenge grant!
On September 28, we once again received a commitment from a local supporter to match dollar for dollar every donation (up to $25,000!)
This multi-use path will provide safe, off-road access for runners, walkers, and cyclists to trails leading to Tinkham Forest, to Old Rochester Regional High School, and to a host of beautiful wooded trails on Sippican Lands Trust Property.
The Friends of the Mattapoisett Rail Trail is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. The Friends will apply 100% of contributions toward the construction of the Marion Connector.

Note: Some people have asked if a percentage of their donation will go to GoFundMe. Please read their explanation of Payment Processing Fees vs. Platform Fees: https://www.gofundme.com/c/free-fundraising.
