**Whiskers of Hope: A Vision for Change in Mauritius** 

In the heart of Mauritius, amidst its lush landscapes and azure waters, lies a story of compassion and hope…

We are Whiskers of Hope, a campaign founded by Jeanne-Marie and JoJo, born from witnessing the dire needs of the island's stray animals. Our journey began when a stray cat chose Jeanne-Marie's villa as the haven for her four newborn kittens during Cyclone Belal. This event was more than a moment of serendipity; it was a call to action. Recognizing the urgent need to address the plight of Mauritius' strays, we launched a GoFundMe campaign. 

Through the kindness and support of our community, we were able to sterilize the litter and their brave mother. Already, three of these kittens have found their forever homes, but our mission didn't stop there. 

 **Our Big Dream**

 Our vision extends far beyond these initial steps. We dream of acquiring a mini-van equipped with cages, allowing us to rescue animals in distress on the spot. Currently, our ability to help is limited. Whenever we encounter animals in need, the most we can offer is food, as the constraints of using a rental car prevent us from taking more decisive action. With a dedicated vehicle, we can change countless lives, providing immediate assistance and veterinary care. 

The stray animal issue in Mauritius is overwhelming, and while many individuals and organizations are making commendable efforts, the scale of the problem outmatches our current capabilities. 

Our dream encompasses not just immediate rescue and care but a sustainable, long-term solution. We envision purchasing land to build a sanctuary for unadopted strays, implementing widespread catch-and-sterilize programs for dogs and cats, and fostering a community of care and awareness.

**Sustainability Through Innovation** 

To ensure the longevity and self-sufficiency of our project, we aim to innovate. Our plan includes launching an affordable brand of dog and cat food, and cat litter, specifically tailored for the Mauritian market. A portion of these sales would directly support the sanctuary and cover veterinary expenses. 

Furthermore, we intend to design and sell merchandise such as T-shirts, keyrings, and shopping bags, offering tourists and locals alike a chance to contribute to our cause. 

**A Sanctuary That Gives Back** 

Our ambitions don't stop with animal welfare. We propose opening a volunteer home and an Airbnb on the sanctuary grounds, providing a unique opportunity for tourists to engage directly with our cause. This approach not only raises awareness but also generates funding essential for our operations and the welfare of the strays.
