The McHenry Family

Bryson was born on October 19th of 2022. When Bryson born, he was diagnosed with heart defects called VSD and ASD. He has 2 holes in his heart one of which is very concerning. He’s been in and out of doctors offices his whole life and was also admitted to the hospital for an extended stay. The VSD is causing fluids to be pumped from the left side of his heart to the right which is causing his chest and lungs to be full of fluids, resulting in him struggling to breathe at times. His cardiologist describes him feeding from a bottle the same as an adult doing a full cardio workout at the gym. He's been on medication since birth to help alleviate some of the fluids so his breathing can become much easier and it unfortunately hasn't helped like they hoped. The doctors wanted to see Bryson gain weight week by week and he started out doing ok until things took a turn for the worst and he stopped gaining. His holes have not closed at all and because of this his heart is becoming enlarged on one side. A team of cardiologists have monitored him closely and decided that he cannot wait any longer and action must be taken. Bryson will undergo an open heart surgery at the age of only 4 months old.

Chris & Andrea have been through so much, not only during these four months but multiple doctors appointments weekly before he was born to monitor his irregular heartbeat. The medical bills are piling up and they will both be on unpaid leave from work for an extended period of time to care for Bryson after his surgery. In addition to Bryson, Chris and Andrea have two additional children to care for and support during this. Anything helps and is greatly appreciated!
