The Meagher Family

Hi, my name is Megan and I am fundraising for my cousin Jonathan and his family as his wife, Alicia, battles Melanoma cancer. Anything anyone can contribute is beyond amazing! Our goal is to give Jon and Alicia some breathing room from the stresses of bills and money and give them one less thing to worry about as they take this disease head-on.

Alicia's Story:

Alicia was diagnosed with Stage III C Melanoma just after giving birth to their son Oliver (July 2021). During the next year, she went to immunotherapy treatments to prevent the cancer from spreading. Just before getting pregnant with their second son, Henry, the doctors had noticed some spots in the lung during a regular CT scan. Doctors waited until the last moment to do another CT scan to see if things had progressed and as they had not changed we moved forward.

After Henry was born, ultrasound checkups came back normal and they thought everything was going well until the CT scan this past June. The scan came back showing the growths had spread. Alicia is no longer Stage III and has been moved to Stage IV Metastatic Melanoma. Due to the spots on the CT scan, she then underwent a full head, neck, and spine MRI to truly see where the spots were.

Due to the rapid growth and spread of this disease, Alicia has been mostly bed-bound and unable to help with the children like before. She is still currently on maternity leave and John is now having to spend less time at work and more time caring for her and the kids. This has placed a large financial burden on the family. Both Alicia and John truly appreciate you reading their story and any contributions to help their family.
