The Meeting by Jeff Stetson

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Bechir Sylvain I'm a Haitian American actor who lives in Los Angeles CA. My background is in theater, and I am one of the co-founder of one of Miami's edgiest platforms for the stage, Ground up and Rising. I am also a proud member of Theater68 company in LA.

I have been wanting to produce the theatrical production of "The Meeting by Jeff Stetson”since my days in undergrad. Jeff Stetson has constructed a fictional setting where two of the greatest civil rights leaders in history - Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. - explore their opposing philosophical points of views on the future of African Americans specifically, and America generally.

The experience I had reading this play, has inspired me to become more involved with our country’s current social rights issues. I believe this piece has the potential to be a creative yet shocking expression of our present day circumstances, and a surreal glimpse into what our future could hold if we don’t take action. That said, rather than just display what’s wrong in our society, this play also points to possible solutions that we have yet to try.

I believe watching these two great leaders strip off their armor and show their vulnerability and inner-humanity will make "The Meeting" resonate with the world.

*My goal is to share Jeff Stetson’s striking vision with audiences in Los Angeles, ultimately receiving the blessing of multiple school districts to have it performed in their schools. It’s imperative that we do not let the significance of these great leaders be forgotten by our youth.*/

Our Goal is to raise $ 20,000 in hopes to have the show up and running in the Fall – for duration of 5 weeks.
