The Mehrdad (Mark) Cohen-Shohet Memorial Fund

Mehrdad “Mark” Cohen-Shohet was a beloved son, nephew, cousin, community member, and friend. More than anything, he was a committed, passionate and charismatic Jew. Mehrdad took great pride in being a Cohen. This distinction impressed upon him a great sense of pride and responsibility to empower others to find a similar sense of pride and responsibility in their Jewish identities. He did so by teaching at religious school, helping to lead High Holy Day services in Los Angeles, and by exhibiting a life-long commitment to supporting and defending the Jewish state.

We can think of no better way to honor Mehrdad’s memory, his legacy, and his commitment to the Jewish people than by creating a fund in his name to ensure that future generations can and will continue to explore and express their Judaism in his name.

All proceeds collected by May 25, 2021 will be donated to The Mehrdad Cohen-Shohet Memorial Fund. The total proceeds from this fundraiser will be divided and donated to Sinai Temple Religious School and Temple Isaiah Religious School to provide needs-based financial aid to students who wouldn't otherwise have been able to attend.
