The Meltons house fire recovery

Hello, my name is Brittany and I’m Tamara Melton’s sister. On November 21, 2022, my brother in law, Josh, was on his way home from working at Carrabba’s Italian Grill. Tamara and their two children, Addison (9) and Parker (8), were home for the evening relaxing before bed. Suddenly, they heard a loud noise, which turned out to be an explosion from a gas line. Within seconds, a fire erupted and the flames roared through their home. Tamara’s quick actions enabled her to gather the kids and the two dogs and flee their burning home. Josh rushed home, but upon his arrival, the home was already lost to the devastating fire.

In an instant, their lives were forever changed. The fire burned so quickly that the Meltons lost their home and every possession they owned. It was a total loss. Nothing was salvageable. I am so beyond thankful that my family is safe and were able to escape unharmed. However, they have a long road to recovery. They escaped with only the pajamas they were wearing. This means they have no shoes, no clothing, no toiletries, no medications, no food, no furniture, no toys, no games, no sentimental items, no dishes, no utensils or kitchen items, nothing. Nothing. Not only have they lost their home and everything they own, they have lost their sense of normalcy, their routine, their comfort and security.

Now, my sister and her family are resilient. They will bounce back from this, but they need our help now more than ever. Anyone who knows this family knows how hard they work and how much they care for their friends, family, and community. Now they need our help.
