THE MIGHTY 12 is now…. THE MIGHTY 40!
In November 2015, 12 young girls, ranging in age from 11 to 13, arrived on the doorsteps of the Magnolia Rescue Center in southern Kenya. The girls, affectionately known as the Mighty 12, had left their villages to escape Masai cultural practices that would prepare them to be sold as wives and servants to men many times their age. Sadly, while illegal, this ritual continues in the region. The result is that our Rescue Center is out of room.
We need to do more. And we are!
The local community has acquired permission to build a new 40-person dormitory adjacent to our Rescue Center. My 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is raising the funds needed to construct the new building. We have already acquired many materials and construction has started. Now we need to raise $8,500 for the acquisition of a water tank, PVC piping, baths, sinks, toilets, bunk beds, windows and doors.
